Plei Me Photos - 1965

NARRATIVE: I was was in the 5th Group at Det C-2 when Plei Me broke. I was the rigger who made most of the drops out of a C-7 and put the hole in the chow hall roof. Maj Beckwith later gave me some of the 51 cal rounds that were fired at us. Most of my drops were made at night and I think a couple of yards were killed standing on top of a bunker by one of my first drops. The first night we went in and dropped we took 21 51 cal hits knocking out one engine and taking out about 12 inches of fuel line in the wing. I had some guys that volunteered that helped me rig up some ammo; you might know Pappy Yost and Harold Sproul on that first flight.
